Calculation of the Value of Trees
We understand that trees are much more than landscape elements
We understand that trees are far more than just landscaping elements. Whether for managing an urban space, a private estate, or a commercial property, knowing the value of trees is essential for making informed decisions, such as insurance claims or responsible land management.
Why tree valuation matters
Tree valuation enables property owners to:
-
Quantify damage or losses for insurance or legal disputes
-
Assess the impact of trees on property value
-
Make cost-effective decisions on conservation, removal, or planting
-
Support planning applications or development appraisals
Our valuation methods
As arboriculture specialists, we use industry-recognised methods to ensure fair, consistent, and defensible valuations. These are the main approaches we apply, tailored to each project:
-
Tree valuation using the Granada Standard 2020
The Granada Standard 2020 is a method developed by the AEPJP (Spanish Association of Public Parks and Gardens). It is the most widely used method in Spain and is broadly accepted by sector professionals. It allows for the calculation of the value of replaceable and non-replaceable trees, palms, and shrubs, and can also be used to assess damage.
It is ideal for urban trees and is widely used in insurance claims or damage cases. -
Environmental and ecosystem valuation (i-Tree)
While harder to quantify in monetary terms, some valuations consider the role of trees in providing shade, reducing energy costs, capturing carbon, improving air quality, or managing stormwater. These functions are particularly relevant in sustainable projects. We use the i-Tree software to assign an economic value to these environmental benefits.
